We provide a comprehensive survey of semantic matching methods, categorizing them based on their general designs and summarizing their key contributions.

We conduct extensive experiments to evaluate the performance of existing methods across various benchmarks, providing insights into their strengths and weaknesses.

We propose a simple yet effective baseline that achieves state-of-the-art accuracy on multiple benchmarks, offering a strong foundation for future research in this field.
